Bridgestone's roots go deep in Akron. So deep, in fact, that for the last week and a half, workers with the Kent-based Davey Tree Expert Co. have been preparing and moving two 90- to 110-ton trees that were planted on the South Main Street property of Bridgestone Americas — the former Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. — in 1950, when the statue of founder Harvey S. Firestone Sr. was dedicated to mark the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the Akron tire giant.
