Bridgestone's roots go deep in Akron. So deep, in fact, that for the last week and a half, workers with the Kent-based Davey Tree Expert Co. have been preparing and moving two 90- to 110-ton trees that were planted on the South Main Street property of Bridgestone Americas the former Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. in 1950, when the statue of founder Harvey S. Firestone Sr. was dedicated to mark the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the Akron tire giant.
